Happy celebration of KUMARE'S 10th anniversary.
The celebration on July 1,
which staff and members had been preparing for over the last few months was a
great success. The weather was very kind to us and we had no rain to disturb
the day which began with a parade around the town center of Real by the 900plus
members who came from all 42 centers of KUMARE. 
This was then followed by a
full days program with items being presented by centers, a raffle with multiple
prizes, a guest speaker delivering an encouraging message to all and many of
our visitors giving solidarity messages. These included a number of local
politicians, as well as representatives of other local and national
organizations. 
Women who have been members
for the 10 years were given a framed certificate to mark their achievement and
Nitz and Erning the original staff person were given plagues in recognition of
their service to the program. We also announced the winner of our Project Hope
contest. Each center had been collecting for Project Hope over the past 18 months. Their center chief was their candidate and they had made their gowns /attire out of recycled materials - very creative and colorful. As Project Hope is for the Philippines these 3 years the members decided to donated what they had collected to the local hospital for medicines for families who have not money to buy such. They had raised P18,000.00. One of the politicians matched what they had raised for the same purpose.
