Bayswater

signbayswaterThe sisters have been in this area since 1860, but the present house was built in the 1960s. In the year 2000 it needed a general refurbishment. As a result, a magnificent Conference Centre was set up, which is called "Sion Centre for Dialogue and Encounter" Its main focus is on the relationship of the Church with the Jewish People and Interfaith dialogue. It is very well organised and efficiently run by three of the sisters in the Community: Ellen, Tessa and Clare. The Centre also, houses an excellent, reference Jewish library. Prior to all this, a study Centre for Christian Jewish Relations was set up in 1962 when Pope John XXIII had announced the second Vatican Council. This Centre moved from no 17 Chepstow Villas to become part of the Sion Centre for Dialogue and Encounter.

The Centre is well used for Biblical studies, Seminars, Churches together, prayer meetings, Interfaith and Spirituality lectures, days of Reflection as well as Province gatherings. . Other groups hire the Conference facilities, for educational and training purposes, including Past Student Reunions. The other members of the community support the work of the Centre in different ways, according to their ability.
