MANCHESTER COMMUNITY

BrendaThe sisters have been in Manchester for over twenty years. Manchester has the second largest Jewish community in the United Kingdom and so we feel a special call to this area. Our work has changed over the time, and our accommodation has changed according to our needs.
Now we are two sisters in Manchester and live in a flat, in a small block of twelve flats. Our neighbours are multifaith and we share in each other's lives and celebrations, which is such a privilege.

Sr. Teresa works in different areas. She is involved in the Parish of Our Lady of Grace in a prayer group and in helping to welcome people into the church. She is also involved in retreats, days of retreat, scripture study and some spiritual accompaniment. Teresa also gives talks on Jewish Christian relations. We support the Council of Christians and Jews and try to attend some of the wonderful events which are hosted by both the CCJ and the University of Manchester in interfaith relations.

flowersSr, Brenda will be taking over the administration of Katherine House in Salford in January 2009. The aim of this retreat house, is to make spirituality affordable for everyone, so the courses that are organised are given at a very reduced price so that anyone can attend, The house is also available for groups to use on a daily basis or for a few days, again at a very reasonable price.

Our little flat hosts a prayer group, and every day visitors call in to chat ... the flat itself is a place of welcome and a friendly area to visit.

Manchester is a city of friendly people, who know what to be a neighbour means, and we still have markets, parks, a good public transport system and wonderful people in this great part of the United Kingdom.
