Conference to mark the 45th anniverary of Nostra Aetate
The 45th anniversary of Nostra Aetate was the occasion for Scotland to launch a conference in three of its Main Cites – Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
It was organised by the Scottish Bishops‘ CommiIee on Inter Religious Dialogue –
chaired by Archbishop Mario Conti – and the Scottsh Council of Jewish Communites.
Two prominent scholars were asked to address the conference : Rev. John Pawlikowski, a priest of the Servite Order, professor of social ethics at Catholic
Theological Union, Chicago and past president of the Theology Committee of the International Council of Christians and Jews, and Rabbi David Rosen who is Honorary Advisor on Interfaith Relations to the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Both speakers were well received and their erudite presentations had the invited guests spellbound. The number and depth of the questions that needed to be asked had, unfortunately , to be curtailed as both speakers had to rush off to Edinburgh.
