Awarding of 2009 Sister Brenda St. Lawrence Prize for Science

BrendaStThe Sister Brenda St Lawrence prize for Science 2009 was awarded to Nisha Talati and Tom Johnson. It is awarded each year to the pupils who have shown the most consistent effort and achievement in their science work during the course of the school year.

The prize is awarded in memory of Sister Brenda, who was a much-loved Headmistress and Science teacher at Our Lady of Sion School. Sister Brenda first taught at the, now closed, Bayswater School in London, where she was Headmistress from 1960, then at Sion School in Worthing, where she was Head from 1971 until her retirement in 1983. She was an enthusiastic teacher, who inspired everyone she taught. After her retirement, her ex-pupils appointed her President of the Past Pupils Association. She kept in contact, by letter, with several hundred past pupils around the world, until her death in 1998. The Sister Brenda prize was inaugurated by the present members of the Past Pupils Association, as a tribute to her memory.
