Reflection
Today we are united with the Jewish community, here and across the world, on the eve of Rosh HaShannah, New Year. It is the day on which the Jewish people stand before God as their King, aware of their human frailty. Jewish tradition says that to an earthly king a person goes full and returns empty; to God a person goes empty and returns full.

Lord, hear my voice when I call!
Take pity on me, and answer me!
Do not turn away your servant in anger,
