Province Pilgrimage to PolandDay 4 Hope Today we vistied Sobibor camp and Wlodawa Lord, open our lips. And we shall declare your praise. Reflection"Dear Kitty, the difficulty in these times is that ideals, dreams, and cherished hopes rise within us, only to meet the horrible truth and be shattered. It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can't build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again Yours, Anne." (From the Diary of Anne Frank) I thank you, Lord, with all my heart; I sing praise to you before the angels. Even when surrounded by troubles, You keep me safe; You oppose my enemies And save by your power. You will do everything you have promised me; Lord, your faithful love endures forever. Complete the work that you have begun. (Psalm 138) Blinded by our tears we cannot see. Blinded by our grief we cannot believe. But beyond grief, beyond belief, gently, gently, there is the whisper of a night song, of an affirmation which could not be slain. Be with us, Lord, Amen. |
