Founder's DayOur Lady of Sion School, Worthing celebrates our feast. Our School in Worthing celebrated the
feast of Our Lady of Sion on Friday 19th January. The whole school gathered in
the Parish Church of St Mary of the Angels in Worthing for a service of
readings, poetry and music. The Headteacher of the school spoke about the vision which the school has inherited from the Sisters. One of the students also spoke of the values of the school : Our parents had the choice of many schools which they could have sent us, but decided that Our Lady of Sion was the right choice, not just for its educational high standards and very successful results, but also and just as importantly for the values by which the school lives and breathes every day as part of the community of Our Lady of Sion Those values have helped build and shape the characters of many students throughout the years. And it is with this sense of perspective that we who are soon to leave hope to be witnesses to this message. The message of peace, tolerance, respect and understanding that pervades all subjects across the curricula in both our schools, which has prepared us with confidence in values and a basis for stability in an unstable world. This Act of Dedication was also read: Lord, we dedicate ourselves to your service, as part of the worldwide community of Sion. We offer the enthusiasm of your youth, the skill of our maturity, and the wisdom of our age. We pledge ourselves now to the task of spreading the light of the Gospel amongst all nations. We look forward with hope to the time when all humankind will recognise each other's dignity and worth, as sons and daughters of one united family. Lord , we dedicate ourselves to carry out your work |
