Sion School Celebrates Sion Feast

January 20th is the feast day of the Sisters of Sion. It is the day when we remember the 'founding event' of the congregation. This is how our Sion school in Worthing celebrated it:

Sion school in Worthing was celebrating this day. An invitation had come for the sisters to meet in the Headmaster's office at 11.45a.m.!! We dutifully appeared and were asked to wait in the office until all the pupils were in the Church. Then to the magnificent sound of a trumpet fanfare we processed into the Church with the Headteacher and some members of the Governing Body. This was followed by a procession of pupils carrying flags and messages of unity from the various countries where Sion has presence. The celebration was enhanced with readings, songs and dance led by the pupils.

Prayers of peace were read in Arabic and Hebrew. There was also a Sikh prayer, a Hindu prayer and a Christian prayer. This certainly highlighted the unity of all the creeds and that very important message "One person can make a difference."

A closing fanfare performed by the school Brass Band was the finale to this service.
There was a sense of how important this day was for the school community and we, the sisters were very happy to be part of it. The sisters with staff of Sion School
