January 20th, 2010 - WORTHING

Jan20thWe celebrated the 20th at our weekly Mass at 8 a.m. and invited all present to breakfast, always very welcome, here in Avila House.  We requested the Mass be offered for Therese's Mam who had died recently. A family joined us as it was the first anniversary of the death of a husband and father, two grown up children came from some distance so breakfast was most welcome.  The family were so grateful it was incredible.

Later quite a few of us went to the church for a service given by the top Juniors and lower classes of the senior school. The feast was used as an opportunity to stress that Sion was an important international educational system teaching tolerance, love and concern for all peoples. The Headmaster of the Junior school gave a brief history of Sion.   It was both moving and enjoyable as the school orchestra played, the pupils sang and read extremely moving prayers for our world. It is a wonderful experience to hear such young people praying so earnestly. The older classes were unable to attend because of examinations.

The staff of the school do an excellent job in encouraging the students to follow the ethos of Sion, always to work for a world of justice, peace and love. Anne Mc
