Acts 4:32-35 Psalm 117 1John 5:1-6 John 20:19-31 The first reading from the Acts of the Apostles paints an idealized picture of the first Christian community. They were united in every way - in their faith which enabled them to give witness to the Lord's resurrection; and in their commitment to one another, providing for each other's needs. . In the Gospel we hear how Jesus appeared to his disciples on the first Easter Sunday in the evening. Thomas, who was not there, would not believe until he had seen the Lord with his own eyes. The gospel ends by inviting us to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and to have life through his name. Think about your own Christian community today. How do you help those in need? Is your faith as a Christian strong? St John says that loving God means doing what God has commanded - love one another. Think about your relationships today. Could you do anything to build them up? Spend some time today reflecting on the strength of your own faith. Do you need firm evidence like Thomas before you believe? Be still and listen to Jesus speaking words of encouragement to you, giving you life. |
