Proverbs 8:22-31 Psalm 8 Romans 5:1-5 John 16:12-15 Coming to know God is a never-ending process. When Jesus was no longer physically present on earth he sent the Holy Spirit to continue to reveal God's love for us. The Spirit is one aspect of the three persons of the Godhead (the Trinity) with the Father and the Son. The first reading is part of a beautiful poem about Wisdom, which in the first century was understood as an attribute of the Spirit of God and which was present at creation when all was play and delight. In the gospel passage Jesus stresses the role of the Spirit in the life of the community. The Spirit will guide the community about the Son and will lead them to the Father. Let us open our hearts to the Spirit and allow God to fill us with knowledge and love of Him and our brothers and sisters. |
